KV920 Aircraft Lighting Systems Lab Trainer

The KV920 Aircraft Lighting Systems Lab Trainer provides hands-on instruction in aviation electrical circuits, simulating an aircraft instrument panel to teach circuit design, troubleshooting, and multimeter use through a realistic and interactive training experience.

KV920 Aircraft Lighting Systems Lab Trainer

The KV920 Aircraft Lighting Systems Lab Trainer was originally designed for KidVenture in Oshkosh, Wisconsin where it has been used to introduce thousands of kids to electrical circuits through an aviation theme – the external lights of an aircraft. This trainer has a wide range of capabilities beginning with understanding simple series and parallel electrical circuits, progressing to using a digital multimeter to test circuits.

The trainer layout is designed like an actual aircraft instrument panel with a rocker master switch and individual toggle switches to control the operation of the various light circuits. The aircraft lighting circuits include taxi lights in the nose cowl, landing lights in the leading edge of the wing, navigational position lights in the wingtips, and a flashing anti-collision light at the top of the tail.

The KV920 benchtop model is available with or without fault capability. The KV920 does not include faults, while the KV920F trainer features an 11-switch fault panel on the rear of the trainer that is used to teach the principles of troubleshooting by inducing opens or shorts in the lighting circuits of the trainer.

All CES Trainers feature a self-contained design, eliminating the need for external components or accompanying computer software to run the trainer. Circuit connections are made using banana-style patch cables between test jacks on the face of the trainer for each electronic component. After building a circuit, the patch cables can be easily and quickly removed in preparation for the next experiment.
